We are excited to announce that we have totally revamped our class trips for 2016-17. They are bigger and better than ever and are now called Learning Excursions. By expanding our options, the groups will be smaller in size, giving our students the advantage of a more personal, focused learning experience. The learning excursions below are available to students in grades 9-12.
St. Augustine, Florida - EcologyOctober 24-289th graders only$650
This is educational trip focuses on the ecology, the scientific study of how organisms relate to one another and to their physical surroundings. The goal of this trip is for each student to gain experience in displaying and explaining their field research while on the trip. For three days, students will visit: Marineland - Touch and Feed with dolphins; Ripple Effect Kayaking Ecotours; Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Preserve; and possibly Whitney Marine Lab & Whitney Sea Turtle Hospital.

Tampa, Florida - Science, History & Art October 24-28 10th-12th gradersPaid for at time of re-enrollment
This educational trip provides an opportunity to explore science, history, and art all within one trip. Students will have hands-on workshops in river and marine biology. We will visit Clearwater Aquarium and Crystal Springs, explore the history of the Tampa area, and visit the Florida Holocaust Museum. We will end the trip with a visit to the Ringling Art and Circus Museum. We will travel home through the night on Thursday and arrive home early on Friday morning.
Washington, DC - United States Government and JournalismOctober 24-27 10th-12th graders$700
This excursion will take students interested in the inner workings of the United States government and journalism on a tour of our nation's capital.Stops will include visits to the White House, Capitol Hill, and the Supreme Court building, all symbols of the branches of U.S. government. We will also tour the Newseum, the premier museum of American journalism, and working multimedia newsrooms that help ensure that the government is accessible and accountable to the governed. Other stops may include the FBI building, the National Archives, National Public Radio, and the Smithsonian.
Boston, Massachusetts - American History and LiteratureOctober 24-2710th-12th graders$1,200
All literature and U.S. History students will gain valuable insight as they explore the rich history of Boston and surrounding towns. From Revolutionary War sites to Thoreau's peaceful Walden Pond, this trip will inspire students and enrich their learning for future AP Literature and AP History courses.
Atlanta, Georgia - Fine Arts October 24-28 10th-12th graders$250
This local trip offers students access to a working art excursion to develop an understanding of how to see our world from an artist's perspective. Students will learn basics of composition and sketching and then go into North Georgia to explore some areas for developing and demonstrating learned art techniques. Possible daily locations include: Zoo Atlanta, North Georgia mountains & Dahlonega, Georgia Aquarium, High Museum of Art, and Athens.
Atlanta, Georgia - Sports Science October 24-28 10th-12th graders$200
Sports Science is the fastest growing area in athletics. The field has been highlighted by the ESPN Sports Science segment and there are many growing professional positions opening up in collegiate and professional clubs around the globe. Students will get a rare, behind-the-scenes look at organizations such as the University of Georgia, Atlanta Falcons, Gwinnett Medical Center, and Chip Smith Performance Systems (one of the top NFL Combine Training facilities in the nation). Several nationally recognized professionals will visit GAC to assist in the learning process and provide hands-on opportunities. A group project will be included to provide an opportunity for students to show what they have learned during this process.
Orlando, Florida - Senior Trip (seniors only) October 24-2712th graders only$550
This annual trip to Orlando is always a favorite experience for our seniors. Students will enjoy time at Universal Studios, Sea World, Blue Man Group, Downtown Disney, and Fun Spot.
